ECG turns over a new leaf for Season 12

The European Cosplay Gathering has now completed more than ten seasons, with thousands of cosplayers participating in the selections, and hundreds of cosplayers taking part in the Finals, offering an amazing show each and every time. We are truly thankful for all their efforts throughout these years. However, the cosplay community has undergone significant changes in recent years due to the evolution and expansion of cosplay as a hobby, as well as the current state of the world. 

In light of these changes, we feel it's time to bring something fresh to the table, just as we did when we started the ECG back in 2010. Therefore, we are evolving our event while keeping the same goal in mind: providing an opportunity for the greatest cosplay talents to showcase their creativity. These changes will be implemented starting with Season 12, which will run from July 2023 until July 2024. If you had plans to enter the ECG in this upcoming season, we want to assure you that all your plans are still valid and working, and this evolution will only offer you even more possibilities for your projects! 

Here are the major modifications that we're bringing to the ECG: 

• Categories will no longer exist. Instead, solos and groups will compete for one spot to represent their country in the Finals. 
• Participants can now enter as a solo, duo, trio, or quartet. 
• Solo, duo, and trio entries may now have one "stage ninja" on stage. 
• The more cosplayers on stage, the longer the performance time, ranging from 1 minute 30 seconds to 3 minutes 30 seconds! 
• There are several other changes within the new rules aimed at allowing for more room for creativity and showcasing all kinds of skills. 

We understand that some people may feel taken aback by the changes we're making to the categories, and we want to acknowledge that change can be challenging. However, we hope that this new approach will provide even greater opportunities for cosplayers to showcase their skills and creativity. We believe that this evolution of the ECG will create a more dynamic and inclusive environment where solo, duo, trio, and quartet entries can compete on a level playing field and where all types of cosplayers can shine. We are confident that this new format will result in some truly unforgettable performances, and we hope that you will join us in embracing this exciting new chapter in the ECG's history.
